Cambodia to Host 2nd National SME Day Focused on LDC Graduation

Phnom Penh, Cambodia – The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI) is set to host the 2nd National Day of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) on June 26, 2025, at the Sokha Residence Hotel in Phnom Penh. The event, themed “Preparation of Small And Medium Enterprises for Leaving Least Developed Countries,” will be presided over by H.E. Dr. Aun Porn Moniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance.

Starting at 9:00 AM, the National Day aims to foster continued support from relevant ministries, institutions, and development partners for the SME sector. A key focus will be encouraging private sector participation in strategic planning and bolstering competitiveness to gain market advantage, especially as Cambodia prepares to graduate from its Least Developed Country (LDC) status by 2029.

This important event will bring together a wide range of stakeholders, including the Cashew nut Association of Cambodia, key government institutions, local processing enterprises, the Business Associations, Cambodian Chamber of Commerce, and relevant NGOs.

The forum will feature discussions on critical topics vital to the growth and sustainability of Cambodian SMEs:

  • SME Regulation: Addressing the regulatory framework impacting small and medium enterprises.
  • Support and Encouragement for MSMEs: Exploring initiatives and programs to bolster micro, small, and medium enterprises.
  • Promoting Cambodian Products: Strategies for expanding the reach of Cambodian products in local, regional, and global markets.
  • Access to International Markets with Business Matching: Facilitating opportunities for Cambodian SMEs to connect with international buyers and expand their global footprint.
