Phnom Penh, Cambodia – August 26, 2025 — The Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia recently met with the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) to discuss the country’s progress in green digital finance, a growing area of focus amid global efforts toward environmental sustainability and financial innovation.
The NBC, in partnership with the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), is currently undertaking a comprehensive research project to assess the current status of green digital financing in Cambodia. The study aims to gather input from a wide range of stakeholders, including government ministries, financial institutions, international development partners, and relevant private sector players.
The ultimate goal is to develop strategies that will encourage the growth of green digital finance—financial products and services that support environmental sustainability and climate goals—within the Cambodian economy.
As part of this initiative, GREEN LOAN, a key player in the sector, reaffirmed its commitment to ethical and professional financial practices aligned with the Cambodian Sustainable Finance Principles (CSFP). The institution emphasizes loans that prioritize environmental protection, social impact, and legal compliance.
Partner banks are also offering a range of financing options under categories such as Green, Social, Sustainability, and Sustainability-Linked Loans. These financial products are designed to support customers and businesses working in priority sectors, including:
- Green Loans: For projects involving green buildings, renewable energy, energy efficiency, clean transportation, climate change adaptation, pollution control, and sustainable water management.
- Social Loans: Targeting initiatives in affordable housing, essential services, basic infrastructure, food security, and sustainable management of natural resources.
This collaboration underscores Cambodia’s increasing dedication to aligning its financial systems with sustainable development goals, and supporting environmentally and socially responsible investments in both public and private sectors.
