Cambodia-Korea Food Processing Technology Center Inaugurated: A Milestone in Bilateral Industrial Cooperation

Phnom Penh, Cambodia — August 6, 2025 — The Cambodia-Korea Food Processing Technology Center was officially inaugurated today, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing industrial cooperation between Cambodia and South Korea.

Since 2012, South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) have carried out 91 projects across 34 countries under the Official Development Assistance (ODA) Industrial and Energy Project. Among these, Cambodia holds a special place as the first recipient of technical support under the TASK Food Processing Project.

Over the past six years, two TASK projects were successfully implemented in Cambodia, providing technical training to local food processing companies. The Cashew nut Association of Cambodia (CAC) was among the key beneficiaries and was invited to attend today’s inauguration ceremony organized by the Ministry of Industrial Technology and Innovation (MISTI).

These projects have already delivered tangible economic results, including increased sales, job creation, and the expansion of local manufacturing facilities. Building on these successes, the newly launched Cambodia-Korea Food Processing Technology Center aims to elevate cooperation to the next level.

The center will focus on:

  • Introducing advanced equipment for test production and food analysis
  • Establishing a hub for professional training and business incubation
  • Supporting the development of skilled professionals in food processing

The long-term goal is to help establish a sustainable food processing industry ecosystem in Cambodia, fostering innovation and economic growth.

“Thanks to the generous support and collaboration from both governments, we are proud to launch this new phase of our partnership,” said a representative from the MISTI. “We are confident the center will generate even greater outcomes than previous projects.”

During the remaining project period, the center will continue to provide technical training and operational support to Cambodian entrepreneurs, ensuring long-term impact and local capacity-building.
