CAC Hosts B2B Business Matching Event to Promote Domestic Cashew Trade

Kampong Thom, Cambodia – August 3, 2025 – The Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia (CAC) successfully hosted a business matching (B2B) event at the Polytechnique Institute of Kampong Thom of the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training under the auspices of His Excellency Dr. Shuong Noy.

The event brought together 91 participants. Also in attendance were representatives from 45 agricultural cooperatives (ACs) from Kratie, Tbong Khmum, Kampong Thom, and Preah Vihear provinces, alongside 16 local and international enterprises from France, China, Mongolia, and Cambodia.

Key financial and development institutions, such as Wing Bank, Sathapana Bank Limited, ARDB Bank, SME Bank, and Khmer Enterprise, also contributed to discussions. The event was organized with support from EU-German Capsafe, HEKS/EPER Cambodia, the ASCEP Project, WCS, Oxfam, and Pearl-FAO, all of whom played active roles in coordinating the business matchmaking efforts.

The main objective of the event was to enhance domestic trade of raw cashew nuts (RCN) and reduce the outflow of approximately 30% of Cambodian RCN to external markets. CAC emphasized its ongoing commitment to improving local procurement and building sustainable supply chains.

Agricultural cooperatives expressed their interest in connecting with responsible and reliable buyers, while buyers underscored the importance of quality assurance and control in the RCN supply. Payment terms discussed were largely centered around the ex-works model, with bank transfers as the preferred method.

Participating enterprises have committed to engaging with cooperatives and intermediaries to explore contract farming arrangements. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for October 2025, during which signing ceremonies for formal contract farming agreements are expected to take place.

This event marks a significant step toward strengthening Cambodia’s cashew sector by fostering transparency, accountability, and long-term business relationships between producers and buyers.
